The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was drafted in 1948 by individuals from all around the world with different legal and cultural backgrounds. On December 10th of that year, the United Nations General Assembly signed and proclaimed this document as, "a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations", declaring that all fundamental human rights be universally protected. Amnesty Amherst strives to uphold and fight for all that is declared in the Univeral Declaration of Human Rights, and believes it is our nations duty to ensure that the human rights of all individuals be protected. It is in the name of this document that our organization both lives by and fights for.
